Engage and Retain Every Employee With New Ways to Learn on LinkedIn Learning

With turbulent times expected ahead, C-level leaders say their top workforce priority over the next six months is to keep employees motivated and engaged. And 39% believe that outlining clear career paths and development opportunities will help. 

Creating a supportive learning environment has never been more critical. LinkedIn’s Global Talent Trends report finds the things employees value the most in employers today — beyond compensation — are flexible work, skills development opportunities, and work-life balance.

Today, we’re rolling out new ways to learn within LinkedIn Learning to support organizations’ efforts to create stronger development programs. After all, flexible, personalized learning options not only help employees achieve their career goals, they help employers create a more agile workforce.

Accelerate employees’ technical skill building with hands-on practice

Tech skills are changing at a faster rate than ever before. According to LinkedIn Economic Graph data, software and IT skills have changed over 30% since 2015, and the pace of change is only accelerating. 

For years, LinkedIn Learning has offered courses on the most in-demand tech skills, with 40% of our English course library dedicated to technology skills such as artificial intelligence (AI), data science, cloud computing, and cybersecurity, as well as courses to prepare you for certifications in the most popular programming languages. 

Now, we’re giving learners the ability to get critical hands-on practice as they acquire new tech skills. We’re partnering with GitHub — used by over 94M developers and 90% of Fortune 100 companies —  to release over 50 courses that are seamlessly integrated with GitHub Codespaces, GitHub’s cloud-based development environment. Courses cover the six most in-demand programming languages (Python, SQL, Java, Go, PHP, and JavaScript) and a variety of topics including AI, machine learning, and data science. Empower employees to build skills to advance their careers

A couple of weeks ago, we launched new features across the LinkedIn hiring and learning products our customers already use to make it easier for talent leaders to foster a culture of career development

Employees who want to guide their career path into tech-specific roles (and beyond) can now utilize Role Guides in LinkedIn Learning Hub. With Role Guides, they can access relevant content, communities, precertifications, and other resources; get an understanding of the skills they need for specific roles; and start building those skills, all within the platform. 

We’re starting with 17 of the most in-demand roles on our platform, including software engineer and data analyst, and in the next couple of months, we’ll be rolling out dozens more with the ability for organizations to customize role guides to meet the specific news of their organization. Employees can also find open jobs aligned to their career goals at their company within the platform.

And to help employees personalize their learning to meet their career goals and close their skills gaps, we’re also soon launching  Skill Evaluations across 42 hard and soft skills in LinkedIn Learning Hub. Employees will soon be able to take a simple evaluation and better understand their skill proficiency to guide their learning and receive content recommendations from us at the right level. 

Engage and develop a multicultural workforce — in your employees’ preferred language

Our goal is to help companies from over 140 countries leverage LinkedIn Learning to upskill as many learners as possible with high-quality learning content. That’s why we’re empowering learners to access content in their preferred language, with new subtitled language libraries and subtitle features. 

With a localized user interface and machine-translated subtitles, we will expand the number of our  subtitled language libraries from seven to 13, translating our top course titles and descriptions from English into six additional languages (Italian, Dutch, Polish, and Turkish in 2022, and Korean and Bahasa Indonesian in 2023). Subtitle features will provide learners with machine-translated subtitles in over 20 languages for 9,000+ English courses in 2023. Learn more here

Make it easy to learn on the go with quick, actionable advice 

Flexibility is key to creating a strong learning environment. Our data shows that many employees — especially those from younger generations — prefer self-guided learning opportunities over rigidly structured training; 43% of Gen Z professionals say they want a flexible, independent learning approach. 

To meet this demand, LinkedIn Learning is releasing over 325 quick, actionable nano tips (each less than three-minutes long) from our top instructors. We find that learners complete nano tips at a 1.2x rate compared to other LinkedIn Learning content. These nano tips are only available in our English library.
