The Must-Read Articles for Talent Professionals This Week
Ellyn Shook says that CHROs have a unique role in the C-suite.
“[CHROs] always have to bring to the table what’s on the minds and in the hearts of the people,” says the former chief leadership and HR officer for Accenture, “because organizations cannot grow and thrive and be successful without their people. When you first get to that table, you may forget that. You want to be one of the crowd, but you can’t forget your role and responsibility.”
Ellyn is now a senior advisor at Accenture and she sat down for an interview with Adam Bryant for his Strategic CHRO newsletter on LinkedIn. She says that standout CHROs must also exhibit what she calls the five C’s: compassion, competence, collaboration, context, and confidence.
There’s also an X factor, she says, and it involves leveraging generative AI, data, and tech. “To maximize your productivity growth from AI, you have to invest in your people.”
To find out more about how CHROs can excel in this period of continuous disruption, be sure to check out the top spot in our list below of must-read articles for talent professionals. And further down our list, dig into the research that shows why remote employees are better monitored with dialogue than data; find out why job postings seem to be disappearing even as there’s an uptick in hiring; and why unsustainable workloads are a management issue, rather than an employee one.
