The 10 Must-Read Articles for Recruiters This Week

When it comes to the future of work, a crystal ball sure would be a handy device to have sitting at your desk.

Alas, that technology does not yet exist (or maybe it’s been lost to the ages?). But if you’re looking to get some insights into the future of remote work in particular, a recent article from Vox features the next best thing: a panel of experts.

In Vox’s piece — which you can find at the top of our list below of must-read articles for talent professionals — six experts weigh in with their predictions. They expect somewhere between 10% and 30% of the U.S. workforce will be working fully remote in the coming years, while 30% to 65% will work remotely some of the time.

The panel also warns that remote work will come with its challenges. They believe remote workers will find it harder to get promoted and risk the possibility of their roles being sent abroad where wages and costs are lower. But as many studies have pointed out, remote workers may be more productive. This, members of the panel suggest, may actually make remote workers’ roles more recession-proof — especially as companies cut costs and tighten their belts.

Be sure to check out Vox’s full article below. And further down our list, you can also learn why a feeling of “Great Regret” may be shared by workers and companies alike; how recruiting via texting is continuing to evolve; and why having fun could be the key to avoiding a toxic workplace.
