The Must-Read Articles for Talent Professionals This Week

When it comes to the job market in 2025, there may be reasons for optimism.

In a recent article by The Wall Street Journal, a senior executive at one of the largest staffing firms in the U.S. shared that “his company filled twice as many human-resources openings for clients in November 2024 as it did in November 2023.”

This is good news for HR and talent pros, but also for job seekers looking for work in any industry. “I look at our HR-placement business as a bellwether,” the senior executive told the WSJ, “because if companies are hiring in that department, they’re generally getting ready to hire in other areas.”

Not convinced? Well, the WSJ also relayed the following:

  • In a recent survey from staffing firm Robert Half, nearly two-thirds of U.S. employers shared that they’re planning to add new permanent roles in the next six months.
  • Another survey by the advisory firm Teneo revealed that more than 75% of enterprise CEOs expect the global economy to improve in the first six months of 2025.
  • A recent LinkedIn survey of nearly 2,000 C-suite executives revealed that 77% of respondents are planning for steady or high-growth hiring in 2025. Meanwhile, just 4% said they anticipated they’d slow hiring or make cut jobs.
